Vanessa Huber litigates various commercial and business matters, including federal equity receiverships, professional liability, and class actions, as well as Title IX and campus discipline-related litigation.  She has significant experience in the analysis and interpretation of statutory issues at both the state and federal court level.

Vanessa began her legal career as a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where she researched and drafted judicial opinions and orders deciding motions to dismiss, summary judgment, judgment on the pleadings, sanctions, restitution, and other administrative matters. In practice, Vanessa employs her judicial clerkship experience and acute attention to detail to navigate all stages of litigation in a swift and efficient manner.

Commercial Litigation

  • Serves as counsel to court-appointed federal equity receiver in ancillary litigation to an SEC enforcement action proceeding in the District of New Jersey, arising from an investment advisory fraud involving more than $60 million in investor losses. Through actions or threatened actions against company insiders, auditors, fund administrators, “net winner” investors, and third-party fund recipients of fraudulent and voidable transfers, has successfully obtained seven-figure judgments against fraudulent transfer recipients.
  • Serves as counsel to court-appointed federal equity receiver in FTC enforcement action proceeding in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against an E-commerce business for deceptive marketing and business practices. Assists the receiver with taking control and marshalling the assets of the defendant-entities, as well as taking control of and shutting down the E-commerce business central to the enforcement action.
  • Member of multi-firm team representing proposed national classes of child sex trafficking victims against world’s two largest online pornography websites in connection with claims for statutory damages and injunctive relief under Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (“TVPRA”) and related federal statutes. Successfully obtained class certification for the federal action proceeding in the Northern District of Alabama.
  • Represented broker-dealer in Pennsylvania state court actions involving claims brought under the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.
  • Represented commercial tenant in confessed judgment and breach of guaranty actions related to commercial lease dispute with landlord. Obtained dismissal with prejudice for the breach of guaranty action, successfully petitioned for attorney fees based on improperly asserted confessed judgment, and ultimately obtained settlement in confessed judgment action following successful objection to the confessed judgment.
