In addition to his legal work, Zak is a professionally trained violinmaker, having apprenticed with one of the top living violinmakers in the world. As a violinmaker, he was honored to serve as a director, officer, and executive committee member of the Violin Society of America. In addition, Zak has been honored to represent many professional musicians in major orchestras and operas nationwide as well as prominent experts, dealers, makers, collectors, and investors of stringed instruments worldwide.

- Successfully resolved complex trademark infringement and cybersquatting dispute seeking damages in excess of $14,000,000 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
- Won motion to dismiss approximately $9,000,000 in claimed damages in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on behalf of multiple New York and London based violin experts and auction houses in dispute involving the authenticity of a purported Stradivari violin.
- Prevailed on summary disposition motion eliminating millions of dollars of claims on behalf of multi-national Italian robotics company in contract dispute in the Circuit Court of Wayne County, Michigan involving construction of an automotive assembly plant in Detroit.
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of robotics company founder in lawsuit brought by a former business partner seeking over $5,000,000 in damages in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
- Obtained complete jury trial victory in complex business dispute in the Circuit Court of Oakland County, Michigan in which client was awarded all amounts due plus interest and attorneys’ fees.
- Successfully resolved complex trademark infringement litigation against a major craft brewery on behalf of craft coffee roasting company in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
- Successfully resolved complex multi-million dollar dispute in arbitration with a UK based supplier on a large automotive project on behalf of multi-national Italian robotics company.
- Obtained dismissal of lawsuit for lack of personal jurisdiction on behalf of a law school in Pakistan in a case brought by a former faculty member in the Circuit Court of Washtenaw County, Michigan.
- Obtained judgement on behalf of prominent social media influencer in a complex business and IP dispute in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
- Obtained no cause judgment on eight counts, including breach of contract and fraud claims, brought against world-renowned classic car restoration specialist, and judgment in full on his counterclaims in the Circuit Court of Washtenaw County, Michigan.
