Steve Watten represents a variety of clients in diverse industries with emphasis on real estate, corporate, financial services and consumer law matters. He specializes in the analysis, structuring and closing of transactions as well as the oversight and management of litigated matters.
Steve advises local and regional real estate developers and development companies in connection with the acquisition, development, and operation of their real estate assets of all classes in all industries. He acts as general counsel for three of the largest property owners associations in Texas. Steve is active in the title insurance area where he addresses title claims involving clients, title agencies and title underwriters. . He coordinates, on a national basis, the consumer finance litigation for several major financial services institutions. Steve also represents entrepreneurs and family owned companies with day to day operations, corporate governance matters and succession planning.
Steve works closely with the directors, executives, general counsel and management of national and multi-national corporations in various, and diverse, industries in connection with real estate, corporate governance, and operational issues. Steve counsels the officers, agents, and staff of title underwriters and agencies as well as the officers, general counsel and management teams of several major financial services entities. He advises the board members and management staff of property owners associations and works with the founders and family members of private entities.
Steve believes that the legal and financial goals of the client must be thoroughly understood and addressed continually throughout the engagement. He takes the time to understand the client’s expectations and financial considerations and will staff and manage the project to ensure peak performance. Steve puts special emphasis on accountability and building and developing strong working relationships with the ultimate goal of forming and fostering lasting client friendships.
