Raymond M. Buddie offers a complete perspective and unparalleled approach to achieving solutions to complex construction issues and resolving construction related disputes.

Raymond is unique in the legal field because he spent the first nine years of his career working in the construction industry. During that period he gained professional experience working as a surveyor, a structural engineer, and a member of the project management team for a major commercial construction company. As a result of his hands-on experience, Raymond not only comprehends complex legal issues that may arise from a construction project, but he also understands the technical and commercial aspects.

Over the past 30 years, Raymond has been recognized as a leader in pursuing and settling major claims for some of the largest commercial contractors. A recent example of Raymond’s proven track record is the $18 million arbitration verdict he obtained against the Los Angeles Unified School District regarding the construction of the Belmont Learning Center project. As a proponent of the proper use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) procedures, Raymond has served as an arbitrator and has successfully settled hundreds of multiparty construction disputes both nationally and internationally. Raymond has also demonstrated his talent by negotiating favorable contract terms for numerous projects, economically resolving labor disputes and surety issues, assisting clients with Public Contract Code compliance and the procurement of entitlements for real estate development projects.

Raymond has been a frequent lecturer to design professionals, contractors, insurance companies and professional associations. He has also served in the public sector for more than 16 years as the Chairman (1997-1998) and Member (1994-2005) of the Marin County Planning Commission, Mayor (1991-1992) and Vice Mayor (1990-1991) of the City of Sausalito, Member of the Marin Transportation Authority (1991-1992), Council Member for the City of Sausalito (1988-1992), Vice Chairman for the Sausalito Planning Commission (1986-1988) and Director of the Sausalito Foundation (1986-present).

Raymond is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio.
