Payton represents and advises employers in a wide variety of labor and employment matters, including claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act (ELCRA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), as well as other federal and state employment laws. Payton defends clients in state and federal courts and represents employers before administrative agencies.
In addition to her litigation practice, Payton provides proactive counseling to employers on employment-related issues such as policy development, employee handbook drafting and review, and workplace investigations. She works closely with clients to develop practical, legally compliant solutions tailored to their business needs.
Prior to joining Clark Hill, Payton gained hands-on experience as a law clerk and Summer Associate in the firm’s labor and employment group, working closely with attorneys on all phases of litigation. During law school, Payton also gained litigation and client-advocacy experience through her work in an immigration clinic, where she represented individuals before the United States Immigration Court.
