Maya Patel advises her clients on a range of complex matters involving environmental regulatory compliance, permitting, and risk management across a range of federal and state statutory frameworks.

Maya represents a broad range of clients, including developers, data centers, manufacturers, and public sector entities, in navigating federal and state environmental regulatory frameworks. She counsels on compliance obligations under key statutes such as the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and CERCLA, as well as analogous state laws. Her work includes developing strategic responses to regulatory changes, addressing emerging contaminants, and designing practical compliance programs tailored to clients’ operational needs. She also supports environmental due diligence and remediation efforts in commercial transactions, helping clients identify and mitigate potential liabilities.

Prior to joining private practice, Maya served as Assistant Counsel with the U.S. Department of the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs, where she independently managed a portfolio spanning environmental, real estate, and fiscal law matters across headquarters and multiple field activities. In that role, she advised senior leadership on environmental compliance, land use, and encroachment issues, and provided legal guidance under statutes including NEPA, CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, and the Endangered Species Act. She also negotiated environmental liability provisions with federal agencies and contractors and contributed to large-scale initiatives involving federal property development and regulatory alignment.
