Senior Counsel

Kristen Erickson is a trusted advisor to local governments, school districts, authorities, and other tax-exempt organizations, as well as to underwriters and financial institutions, in a wide range of public finance matters. As a member of Clark Hill’s Public Finance practice, Kristen serves as bond counsel, issuer’s counsel, underwriter’s counsel, and bank counsel in both tax-exempt and taxable financings. She works closely with clients to structure, negotiate, and document financing transactions that support essential public projects and community priorities.

Kristen’s experience spans large state agency bond issuances, conduit financings, direct bank loans, general obligation bonds, lease revenue bonds, and mortgage revenue bond programs supporting affordable homeownership. Her practice is grounded in a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by public sector clients—an understanding informed by her prior work representing municipalities and governmental entities, as well as her time in the law department of a large municipality.

In addition, as a part of her public finance work, Kristen advises clients on matters related to economic and community development and housing finance. She is particularly focused on initiatives that expand access to affordable housing, strengthen local infrastructure, and promote inclusive growth. Whether facilitating complex financing arrangements or navigating regulatory requirements, Kristen brings a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to helping clients meet the needs of their communities.

Kristen is driven by a commitment to public service and believes in the power of sound legal counsel to help build stronger, more resilient communities. She is dedicated to supporting state and local governments, non-profit organizations, and school districts, as well as their financial partners, as they invest in the future and address the needs of all residents in their communities.
