Jose’s practice focuses on civil litigation across a variety of matters, including business disputes, employment-related claims, and regulatory issues. He drafts pleadings, discovery, and substantive motions, and assists clients through all stages of litigation, including depositions, hearings, trials, appeals, and arbitration proceedings. By combining thorough legal analysis with a client-focused approach, he helps organizations address disputes efficiently while remaining focused on their broader business objectives.
Prior to entering private practice, Jose gained valuable experience working with both the judiciary and litigation teams. He served as a legal intern to a federal district court judge, where he assisted in drafting opinions and orders involving patent infringement, employment discrimination, and voting rights matters. He also worked with a Texas appellate court, conducting research and preparing analyses on a broad range of civil and criminal appeals. These experiences provided him with valuable insight into judicial decision-making and effective advocacy.
Jose also has experience handling workers’ compensation matters, where he managed a docket of cases before the U.S. Department of Labor, conducted depositions, negotiated settlements, and prepared pre-hearing filings. Earlier in his legal career, he supported attorneys in complex insurance-related disputes through legal research and analysis involving ERISA and healthcare-related issues.
A dedicated advocate from the beginning of his legal career, Jose distinguished himself through his involvement in competitive advocacy programs at the University of Houston Law Center. He served on the National Moot Court Team, earned induction into the Order of the Barristers, and participated in the Civil Justice Clinic, where he represented clients in eviction and property disputes. These experiences helped shape the advocacy, problem-solving, and client-service skills that continue to guide his practice today.
