Erin Nalepa helps nonprofit and mission-driven organizations build strong governance foundations, meet complex compliance demands, and form effective partnerships that amplify their public impact.

Drawing on experience in government and the military, Erin advises nonprofit and tax-exempt entities on governance, compliance, and strategic collaboration. She counsels boards and executive teams on formation, fiduciary duties, and regulatory matters, helping organizations align their legal frameworks with their missions.

Before joining Clark Hill, Erin served as Associate Legal Counsel to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, where she advised on compliance, ethics, and policy implementation across state agencies. She previously clerked for the Honorable Nancy G. Edmunds on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Erin’s prior service as a Marine Corps officer informs her steady, pragmatic approach to complex institutional questions. Clients value her ability to synthesize legal precision with practical leadership judgment, ensuring organizational integrity and mission effectiveness.

Active in Detroit’s civic and arts community, Erin contributes to organizations that strengthen public institutions, creative culture, and community engagement.
