Carissa Meyer counsels clients in insurance coverage and claims management, with a focus on representing international insurers and reinsurers in a healthcare setting.
She advises clients regarding insurance coverage in a variety of areas, including medical professional and general liability, directors and officers liability, and employment practices liability in primary and reinsurance contexts. She prepares coverage opinions in individual cases and drafts reservation of rights and declination letters. Carissa also provides comprehensive claims management and risk assessments of large healthcare systems in the United States. She works closely with insureds and their counsel to develop case strategies for high-exposure matters and offers case evaluations to reinsurers within the healthcare industry.
Drawing from previous experience, Carissa uses her background in litigation to effectively advise clients on matters through pre-suit, negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, and at jury trials.
In addition, she also has represented insurance companies in casualty litigation and in complex insurance coverage-related litigation including commercial general liability, personal injury, premises liability, and bad faith in first-party and third-party settings.
