Clark Hill Expands Industry-Leading AI Platform Through Enterprise Adoption of Thomson Reuters CoCounsel and Firmwide Generative AI Strategy
Clark Hill announced today a significant expansion of its artificial intelligence platform through a new enterprise agreement with Thomson Reuters that provides firmwide access to its most advanced legal AI capabilities, including Next Gen CoCounsel, Westlaw Advantage, and Practical Law. The investment is part of Clark Hill’s broader strategy to become one of the legal industry’s most advanced and responsibly governed adopters of generative AI.
The agreement builds upon more than two years of planning, evaluation, pilot programs, governance development, and attorney training as Clark Hill has systematically integrated generative AI into both the practice and business of the firm. The firm’s approach extends beyond technology acquisition, focusing equally on governance, education, security, ethics, and long-term attorney development.
“Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the legal profession,” said John Hensien, Chief Executive Officer at Clark Hill. “Our responsibility to our clients and to our colleagues is not simply to purchase technology. It is to thoughtfully build an ecosystem that allows Clark Hill attorneys and professionals to use these tools safely, ethically, and effectively to deliver greater value to our clients. We believe the firms that lead in the next decade will be those that pair advanced technology with strong governance, continuous education, and exceptional legal talent.”
Under the Thomson Reuters enterprise arrangement, every Clark Hill attorney will have broad access to advanced AI-powered legal research, drafting, document analysis, summarization, review, and workflow tools built on the foundation of Thomson Reuters’ trusted legal content and research platforms. The agreement significantly expands access to CoCounsel capabilities while further integrating AI into the firm’s existing Westlaw and Practical Law environment.
Clark Hill’s AI strategy extends far beyond a single platform. The firm has established a comprehensive portfolio of approved technologies, including Microsoft Copilot for attorneys, business professionals, and administrative teams, along with other enterprise-grade tools that have undergone extensive security, ethical, and operational review.
As clients increasingly expect their outside counsel to leverage advanced technology while maintaining rigorous standards for confidentiality, verification and quality, Clark Hill believes its integrated approach positions the firm to meet the evolving demands of the legal marketplace while continuing to deliver the sophisticated legal counsel for which it is known.
