Force Majeure: What and Why You Need to Know

June 29, 2020

The retail industry has been significantly impacted by COVID-19. Leaders in the retail industry are encouraged to join us for a presentation on force majeure provisions in commercial contracts such as sponsorship agreements, supply and transportation agreements and leases, including how and when to declare or react to a notice of force majeure. The presentation will also explore the related common law doctrines of frustration and impossibility, as well as UCC 2-615 (events that render a seller’s contractual performance impracticable), and how these concepts are being used in today’s environment.

Both retailers and product suppliers will benefit from this complimentary presentation and will walk away with a full understanding of the law, common applications, certain danger zones, and best practice tips for navigating the legal ramifications many will face as the industry continues to bounce back from the pandemic and events of civil unrest.
