Matthew Smith is a full-service construction attorney handling a large portfolio of suppliers, subcontractors, developers, engineers and general contractors in a variety of construction and commercial litigation matters.

A seasoned attorney, Matthew handles matters involving construction liens, bonding and surety claims, contracts, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, labor, real estate, and design and construction defect litigation. Matthew is experienced in business, bankruptcy, construction, creditors’ rights, real estate, and civil litigation. Matthew is also Capital Litigation Certified.

Matthew joined the United States Marine Corps in 1993 and has achieved the rank of Major. Matthew served as government counsel, defense counsel, and as the Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Marine Corps’ Office of the Staff Judge Advocate in San Diego, California. He returned to Michigan in 1999 to practice law, while also serving in the U.S. Marine Reserves. Matthew authored “Creditor’s Rights in Chapter 11 Cases” published by Aspatore, a Thomson Reuters Company.
