Kyle Spurgeon has broad experience in areas of business law, bankruptcy, litigation, and tax. Prior to joining the firm, Kyle served for several years as general counsel and tax manager for a well-known consulting firm specializing in state and local tax (SALT). Kyle has significant experience in the creation and operation of privately held entities, including limited liability companies and partnerships. Kyle is experienced in state and local tax planning and economic development. Kyle has worked closely with SALT professionals to implement tax planning initiatives for clients ranging from multi-national public Fortune 1000 companies to smaller public and privately held companies in a variety of business sectors.
Kyle was previously an associate with a national law firm, where his practice concentrated on defending lenders, servicers, and other companies in the mortgage industry in state and federal courts. Kyle has advised clients on a variety of bankruptcy and real estate issues and represented clients in a variety of litigation matters, including actions involving allegations of unfair and deceptive trade practices, fraud, wrongful foreclosure, and violations of TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, FCRA, and Georgia Fair Business Practices Act (GFBPA).
Kyle earned his J.D., cum laude, from Vermont Law School in 2008, where he served on the Trial Advocacy Moot Court Board, Negotiations and Client Counseling Board, and the Student Bar Association. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Economics & Management, cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 2004.
