Joseph A. Welsh

Joseph A. Welsh represents clients in complex environmental, regulatory, and commercial disputes. He supports clients at every stage of litigation, from early case assessment through discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation, with a focus on helping clients navigate high-stakes matters involving environmental risk and compliance.

Joseph’s practice includes litigating environmental contamination and toxic tort claims, as well as consumer protection and class action matters. He drafts pleadings and substantive motions, manages discovery, and prepares trial and appellate briefs in cases involving significant potential exposure. His experience includes work on multidistrict litigation and matters involving emerging environmental issues, including air and water contamination and related regulatory frameworks.

Before entering private practice, Joseph served as a staff attorney with a nonprofit legal organization, where he represented community groups in environmental and administrative matters. His work included addressing federal and state regulatory issues, preparing filings under the Clean Air Act, and advocating on behalf of stakeholders impacted by industrial operations.
Earlier in his career, Joseph served as a prosecutor, during which he managed a high-volume caseload and tried numerous cases. This experience informs his practical, results-oriented approach to litigation and his ability to develop effective strategies in contested proceedings
