Ray J. Koenig III Re-Elected Secretary of the Chicago Bar Association

Ray J. Koenig III was recently re-elected to the prestigious position of Secretary of the Chicago Bar Association. Koenig will be sworn in at the virtual 147th Annual Meeting on June 25, 2020. He is the first openly LGBTQ person to hold an officer position at The Chicago Bar Association and joins what is one of the most diverse leadership groups in the history of The Chicago Bar Association. Founded in 1874, The Chicago Bar Association is one of the oldest and most active metropolitan bar associations in the United States. The Association's voluntary membership of approximately 20,000 consists largely of lawyers and judges from Cook County and the State of Illinois.

Koenig serves as the Member in Charge of the Chicago office and on the Firm’s Executive Committee and is a Member in the Firm’s Litigation and Tax & Estate Planning groups. He practices in Estate & Trust Litigation, for which he has been repeatedly selected as a Super Lawyer or Rising Star since 2010, including the last three years as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Illinois. He was also recognized as a Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Gen X Leader and Crain’s Chicago Business Notable LGBTQ Executive in 2019. Koenig has been a recognized leader in various communities, including at the non-profit agency Chicago House, of which he served on the board for 10 years.
