Clark Hill’s Mary Rose Brusewitz Supports MCE Social Capital in Fundraising Efforts

October 20, 2023

Mary Rose Brusewitz and others at Clark Hill PLC recently supported MCE Social Capital, an impact-first investor, as it launched the oversubscribed MCE Empowering Sustainable Agriculture Fund (MESA).

According to a press release from MCE, MESA will expand on MCE’s experience scaling economic opportunities within local communities, enhancing the climate resilience of smallholder farmers, and empowering women throughout the agricultural sector in emerging markets.

Brusewitz, an international transactional lawyer with an active focus on impact investing, and member–in-charge of Clark Hill’s New York City office, provided legal guidance to MCE and MESA as MESA secured senior and catalytic funding from a variety of investors, including international development institutions, foundations and family offices.

“We are so pleased that the firm had the opportunity to collaborate with the fantastic team at MCE and MESA as they implemented this successful fundraising,” Brusewitz said. “I feel fortunate to support MCE’s enduring and impactful work involving the agriculture sector, and its commitment to gender equity and climate resilience.  We are proud of the outcome we were able to achieve together.”
