April 19, 2024

Clark Hill, a leading international law firm, in collaboration with the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), Dublin City University (DCU), and the United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) coalition, is pleased to announce the launch of a new webinar series titled “Online Abuse in Sport.” This innovative series aims to address the critical issue of online abuse within the sports community by facilitating a dialogue among experts from academia, the legal field, and the sports industry.

The inaugural session of the webinar series, “Online Hate in Sport: The State of Play in Academic Literature,” features Dr. Colm Kearns, a post-doctoral researcher with the Tackling Online Hate in Football (TOHIF) project. Dr. Kearns focuses on insights into the historical and current academic perspectives on online hate in sports, drawing from his extensive research and publications in the field.

“Online abuse in sports is not just a problem for athletes and teams, it impacts fans and the sports community as a whole,” said Kirby Tarrant, Clark Hill Partner in Charge. “Clark Hill is proud to be part of this initiative with DCU and the FIA. This webinar series is part of our ongoing effort to provide meaningful solutions and foster a safer online environment involved in the sports community.”
