Kimberly Moore and Mark Ludwikowski to Participate in 2019 SelectUSA Global Business Investment Conference in Washington, DC

June 5, 2019

Clark Hill Members Kimberly Moore and Mark Ludwikowski will take part in panel discussions with global business and government leaders at the 2019 SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, DC. The Investment Summit, held June 10-12, is the highest-level investment promotion event in the country, connecting companies with U.S. economic development organizations to facilitate job-creating business investment in the United States.

“We are delighted to participate in this premier annual investment summit," noted John Hern, Clark Hill’s Chief Executive Officer.  "Given the increasing complexity of the issues involved in international investment in the U.S. and beyond, our global clients can benefit from Clark Hill’s network of industry advisors and subject-matter experts to provide innovative legal solutions to these challenging issues."

Moore is Member in Charge of the firm's Collin County office in the Dallas Metro area in the Labor & Employment practice. She is a board certified employment lawyer and AAA trained mediator, and assists clients with non-compete, theft of trade secrets, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour matters. Moore will be moderating the panel, “Setting Your Workforce Up for Success” on Monday June 10 from 10:30 – 11:30 A.M., and noted, “When entering the U.S. labor market it’s essential that international companies understand our workforce development programs, including recent developments in wage and hour and leave issues.”  “This panel will help investors to understand how these programs directly impact the various benefits that they are required to provide to their employees at the federal level and on a state-by-state basis.”

Ludwikowski is the leader of Clark Hill's International Trade Practice and a Member in the firm’s Washington, DC office.  He focuses on all areas of U.S. trade regulatory compliance and policy, including trade remedies, international trade litigation, customs, export controls, and sanctions law, and counsels clients on issues arising from international trade agreements.  Ludwikowski will be speaking on the panel, “Trade & Investment Regulations: Paths to Success” on Tuesday June 11 from 2:30 – 3:30 P.M. and noted that, “the panel will discuss how business investors can adapt to and benefit from the rapidly changing global trade environment as policies continue to evolve with regard to commerce, digital trade, and specific markets’ strengths and priority sectors.”

More than 2,800 attendees have registered for the 2019 Investment Summit, including nearly 1,200 business representatives from 70-plus global markets. Past Investment Summit participants have announced more than $103.6 billion in new investment projects within five years of attending an Investment Summit, creating or retaining more than 167,000 U.S. jobs in the process.

The United States is the top destination for foreign direct investment in the world, with total stock at more than $4 trillion at the end of 2017.
