Frederick W. Hoffman of Clark Hill PLC Elected as a Michigan Delegate for the Democratic National Convention, Sept. 4-6
DETROIT, MICH. - Frederick W. Hoffman has been elected as one of Michigan's 203 delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 4-6. Hoffman, chosen as a delegate from his home area at a local caucus in June, is Of Counsel with Clark Hill PLC's Detroit Office, in the firm's Automotive and Government Affairs practice groups.
"I sought this position so I could share my insight on the key role the Obama Administration played in rescuing the domestic auto industry," Hoffman said. "Since I was there in the front row, this gives me a great chance to tell that story."
Hoffman had been former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm's senior advisor on the auto restructuring, as well as economic development, 2009-10. Prior to that, he served as director of State Relations for Chrysler, where he was employed for more than 20 years. Earlier work included service as the head of the Michigan Commerce Department auto and steel unit and City of Dearborn deputy mayor.
In addition to his role at Clark Hill, Hoffman serves as part-time director of Strategic University Relationships for the University of Michigan-Dearborn, advisory board member for the RL Polk company, gubernatorial appointee on the Detroit Wayne County Port Authority and a board member of the Wayne County Building Authority.
He also serves as Honorary Consul for the German government in Michigan, as a member of the Welcoming Michigan Advisory Board, the wish-granting Rainbow Connection board, and as a director of the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition (MAC), among others.
Hoffman earned his B.A., with a major in political science, from the University of Michigan-Dearborn after earning an A.A. from Henry Ford Community College. His law degree was awarded by the Detroit College of Law, now the MSU Law School, in 1985 and he passed the state bar examination shortly thereafter. He also has had advanced studies in business at INSEAD and certification in economic development finance through the National Development Council.
