Employee Benefits Attorney Douglas J. Ellis Joins Clark Hill’s Pittsburgh Office
Ellis has substantial experience in implementing and administering broad-based employee benefit programs, including welfare benefit plans and tax-qualified retirement plans. He assists clients on complying with ERISA’s nondiscrimination, reporting, disclosure and fiduciary requirements. He also provides advice in mergers and acquisitions with regard to benefits, compensation and related employee transition matters, including administration and integration of benefit plans, treatment of equity awards and structuring of severance or retention arrangements.
Ellis also assists clients in the design, drafting and implementation of executive compensation programs, including bonus plans, equity incentives, employment and severance agreements, SERPs and other executive retirement plans, deferred compensation and rabbi trusts, as well as retention and change in control arrangements.

Ellis received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and B.A. from the Ohio State University. Before joining Clark Hill, Ellis was a partner in the employee benefits practice group of an international law firm based in Pittsburgh.
