Clark Hill Attorneys to Present Michigan Paid Medical Leave Act Workshop Hosted by Firm’s Labor & Employment Group

DETROIT, MI – Carly O. Machasic, Anne-Marie V. Welch, and Stephen R. Gee, each members of Clark Hill’s Labor & Employment group, will speak at a complimentary workshop to be held on February 28, March 1, and March 8, 2019, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.  The workshop, “Michigan Employers Are Now Required to Offer Paid Sick Leave to Employees: Is Your Organization Prepared?” will discuss the Michigan Paid Medical Leave Act, which will become effective on March 29, 2019. 

Under the Act, Michigan employers with 50 or more employees will be required to provide certain employees at least 40 hours of paid medical leave for personal and family health needs. Carly, Anne-Marie and Stephen will provide insight on multiple, cost-effective alternatives to employers who need assistance in creating, reviewing and revising their policies to ensure they are compliant with the Act’s requirements.

Carly O. Machasic focuses her practice on representing employers in all areas of labor and employment law. She is an experienced litigator who defends employers against claims involving a wide range of employment-related issues, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, family/medical leave, and accommodating disabilities.

Anne-Marie V. Welch defends employers in state and federal lawsuits and administrative proceedings against wrongful discharge, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and related statutory and tort claims. She also prosecutes and defends claims pertaining to confidentiality, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.

Stephen R.
