Clark Hill Attorneys Jeffrey M. Gallant and Scott D. Garbo to Present at MICPA Construction Industry Conference on September 23, 2016
DETROIT, MI – Clark Hill attorneys Jeffrey M. Gallant and Scott D. Garbo will present “Minimizing the Risks of Cost Overruns on a Project” at the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) Construction Industry Conference on September 23, 2016, at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan.
One of the leading causes of liens, bond claims, and lawsuits on construction projects is cost overruns. These cost overruns are often due to “changes” and/or “extras” in the work. Whether a company is seeking to avoid claims at the end of the project by downstream contractors, or itself is seeking to recover cost overruns incurred due to changes or extras, there are ways to protect your interests. Gallant and Garbo will lead an interactive discussion focused on common contract provisions and the proper way to address changes and/or extras on a project.
With over 18,400 members, the MICPA is the leading statewide professional organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing the value of the CPA profession. MICPA represents Michigan CPAs working in business, education, government, and public accounting.
