Clark Hill Attorney Thomas A. Brooks to present at the Michigan Bankers Association Group Meeting in Troy, Michigan on May 12, 2016
Detroit, MI –Clark Hill attorney Thomas A. Brooks will present at the Michigan Bankers Association Group Meeting in Troy, Michigan on May 12, 2016. Brooks will discuss what bank regulators will review when they examine a bank for compliance with cybersecurity standards as well as other compliance issues. Last year, the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council developed the Cybersecurity Assessment Tool for banks to use in developing a program to protect against cyber incursions. Thereafter, the GAO criticized bank regulators for lacking cybersecurity expertise by their examiners to properly supervise banks. Examination in this area has become a high priority for all the regulators and banks need to be prepared to deal with this issue during their examinations.
Brooks, formerly General Counsel of the FDIC, concentrates his practice in financial services issues and represents clients before state and federal financial institution regulatory agencies. His practice includes a wide variety of matters, including regulatory compliance, board of director investigations and liability issues, Dodd-Frank Act mandates, corporate governance requirements, BSA/AML issues, CFPB compliance, fintech and marketplace lending, mergers and acquisitions, and a variety of other legislative and regulatory issues.
