Clark Hill Attorney Robert D. Gordon to Present on Public-Sector Bankruptcy and Restructuring at ALI Conference in Washington, D.C., on October 21, 2016
BIRMINGHAM, MI – Clark Hill attorney Robert D. Gordon will present “Update on Public-Sector Bankruptcy and Restructuring” at the American Law Institute CLE Conference entitled Employee Benefits Plans of Tax-Exempt and Governmental Employers, on October 21, 2016, in Washington, D.C.
Gordon will briefly review the treatment of pensions under the Chapter 9 bankruptcy plan of the City of Detroit. He will then provide an overview of the provisions of the new PROMESA statute to address the financial distress in Puerto Rico and discuss how pensions may be addressed under that statute.
Gordon is a member of Clark Hill’s Corporate Restructuring & Bankruptcy Practice Group. He focuses his practice in the areas of corporate and public-sector reorganization, bankruptcy and insolvency-related matters, debtor and creditor rights, workouts, and related commercial litigation. Gordon served as Special Restructuring Counsel to the two Detroit retirement systems, the Police and Fire Retirement System and the General Retirement System, in the City of Detroit municipal bankruptcy case.
