Attorneys Edward C. Hammond and John Hern are Re-elected to Clark Hill PLC's Executive Committee
DETROIT, MICH. – Clark Hill PLC attorneys Edward C. Hammond and John Hern have been re-elected to three-year terms on the firm’s executive committee, effective Jan. 1, 2013.
Hammond is a member of the Oakland County and American Bar Associations, and the State Bar of Michigan. His practice primarily involves employee benefits and executive compensation, and includes drafting, implementing, analyzing, and terminating defined benefit pension plans, defined contribution, profit sharing, 401(k) plans and Section 403(b) plans. Clients often seek Hammond’s assistance with welfare plans, cafeteria plans, and fringe benefit plan design, implementation and compliance, as well as guidance regarding the Department of Labor, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation and Internal Revenue Service audits. He has substantial experience dealing with client benefits issues in bankruptcy and with the inter-relationship of federal bankruptcy law and ERISA. Hammond has lectured and published articles on various compensation and benefits topics. He lives in Beverly Hills, Mich., with his wife, Anne.
Hern serves as the firm’s chief executive officer. In his 10 years as CEO, Hern has worked alongside the executive committee to re-evaluate Clark Hill’s brand, and develop and implement the firm’s strategic plan. During Hern’s tenure, Clark Hill has more than doubled in size, opening offices in Grand Rapids, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Phoenix, and continues to grow in Michigan with the recent addition of nine attorneys from Kupelian, Ormond & Magy in June.
