Timothy R. Donovan
Timothy Donovan leads domestic and foreign companies through mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and financing transactions.
Tim has led companies through their most complex M&A, financing, and other transactions, including an $18 billion bankruptcy restructuring that resulted in the creation of a public real estate investment trust. Tim’s experience includes 18 years as an independent director of a Chicago-based Nasdaq-listed company, business unit leadership at Tenneco, a large Chicago-based publicly traded manufacturer of OEM and aftermarket automotive parts, Chair of the corporate and securities practice at a major Chicago-based law firm, and early background as a tax lawyer at the IRS District Counsel’s office in Chicago.
Prior to Clark Hill, Tim was the GC of three publicly traded companies, including most recently one of the world’s most diversified hospitality, entertainment, and gaming companies in the world. Tim’s legal and operational experience has extended internationally throughout his career. While serving as the GC of Tenneco, he was also the GM of that company’s manufacturing and other business operations in South America (Brazil and Argentina) and Asia/Pacific (India, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, China, Australia, and New Zealand) for four years. Timothy has done joint ventures (both forming and then managing) in Japan, China, India, Thailand, the UK, and several other countries, and he has also led M&A deals in China, Hong Kong, Macau, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany and other countries in Europe.
