Steve Recchia is a renewable energy and project finance lawyer in San Diego, California. Steve has substantial experience in advising on governmental benefits and incentives for renewable energy/ESG-transactions, tax equity and debt financings, and the formation of partnership-investment structures to develop, acquire, and operate a variety of renewable energy assets.

Steve’s experience in renewable energy and project finance includes representing developers, investors, landowners, governmental entities, asset management/O&M, and companies. He possesses more than 17 years of experience advising on solar, wind, battery storage projects including the negotiation and drafting of merger and acquisition agreements (MIPA), state renewable policies, rebates, & incentives-RECs, partnership and LLC operating agreements, financing, security, and credit agreements.

Over the last decade, Steve Recchia has successfully closed transactions relating to solar + wind + BESS projects totaling many thousands of megawatts and many billions of dollars in asset value. Steve is recognized as a national speaker on renewable energy project development, ESG, and tax equity financings leading expert panels for Bank of America, WRISE (Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy), and the Annual Meeting of the California Bar and the California Lawyers Association. He is an author of articles related to renewable energy tax credits and maximizing benefits under the Inflation Reduction Act.

During his tenure as general counsel for solar and wind developers, Steve worked on power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Fortune 5 companies and was actively involved in closing deals from the earliest and some of the largest solar infrastructure projects in the United States, including structuring and drafting equipment supply agreements, EPC agreements, and tax equity financings.
