Scott B. Galla
Scott B. Galla is a Senior Attorney with Clark Hill's Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Group where he advises his clients on a broad range of both regulatory and litigation matters related to the insurance, healthcare, and financial services industries. His clients primarily consist of insurers, reinsurers, producers, captive insurance programs, risk purchasing groups, and various intermediaries.
Insurtech and Fintech. Scott regularly advises both established and emerging companies on the complex legal issues that arise when innovative technologies are integrated into highly regulated markets, such as insurance and financial services. He has advised his insurtech clients on formation, licensing, product development and distribution, reinsurance, sales and marketing, e-commerce, vendor and other commercial agreements, complaints before state departments of insurance, and regulatory risks under multijurisdictional insurance, privacy, and consumer regulations. Scott helps his clients to navigate state and federal regulations while employing big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning, algorithmic models, blockchain, Internet of Things, and innovative e-commerce strategies.
Litigation. Scott devises and implements legal strategies in all stages of litigation, regularly appearing before state and federal courts as well as arbitration panels. He works with his clients to successfully manage pretrial litigation and position each case for favorable resolution by dispositive motion, trial, or settlement. While commercial disputes within the insurance industry form the bulk of his litigation practice, Scott has also achieved successful outcomes in cases involving attorney malpractice, personal injury, Telephone Consumer Protection Act claims, intellectual property claims, consumer mortgages, and landlord-tenant disputes.
Background. Scott earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He served on the managing board of the Virginia Tax Review, finished runner-up in the National Baseball Arbitration Competition, and co-directed the Libel Show. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, triple-majoring in biology, psychology, and life sciences communication. Prior to attending law school, he served as a Public Health Scholar within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Scott is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
