Nelson O. Ropke
Nelson O. Ropke is a Senior Counsel in the Banking and Financial Services Business Unit of Clark Hill's Detroit office. For more than 15 years, Nelson has provided a unique perspective to clients as both a trial and transactional lawyer. Prior to joining Clark Hill, Nelson was a partner in an Am Law 200 international law firm located in Detroit.
Nelson represents clients in all aspects of state and federal commercial litigation assisting clients with all pre- and post-judgment remedies including receiverships, collateral liquidation, foreclosures, repossessions, evictions, debt sales and debt restructures. His practice has a particular emphasis on commercial litigation and creditors' rights resolution with a concentration on loan enforcements, insolvency, bankruptcy and receiverships.
Nelson also represents public and private lenders in a variety of lending structures, including syndications, financing leases, structured debt and equity financings, multi-jurisdictional and international transactions and has extensive experience in maximizing the liquidation value of different collateral types including operational assets, construction equipment, retail and wholesale inventory, real estate, intellectual property, aircraft and maritime vessels.
Nelson has assisted clients from the U.S., Australia, and the UK in acquiring and liquidating loan portfolios as well as hundreds of commercial properties, including gas stations, convenience stores, hotels, shopping centers, apartment buildings, and low income housing developments located throughout the United States.
