Katie Anderson, a counselor and litigator, develops legal solutions for governmental entities, including educational institutions, housing authorities, and special districts.

Katie assists school districts with labor and employment law matters such as employee leave, discrimination, grievances, investigations, discipline, and termination. Her work with school boards includes board fiduciary duties and governance, Texas Public Information Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Texas Open Meetings Act.

Katie supports housing authority clients with the Fair Housing Act; laws and regulations for public housing and housing choice voucher programs; desegregation; creating diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and procedures; and contract negotiation. Katie assists clients in navigating a broad range of local, state, and federal fair housing and anti-discrimination laws. She frequently defends clients nationally in fair housing litigation, complaints filed with HUD as well as state and local agencies across the country. She develops and revises policies to ensure up-to-date compliance with all relevant laws and agency guidance in an ever-changing legal landscape. Katie provides training to municipalities and housing authorities on practical considerations for complying with fair housing laws and regulations including responding to requests for reasonable accommodations, disability and accessibility issues, and on-demand topics based on the client’s needs. As leader of Clark Hill’s Housing Authority practice, Katie guides a skilled team of attorneys from across the country who counsel housing authorities.

Appointed as a Special Discovery Master in Collin County State District Court, Katie makes recommendations to the Court on appropriate discovery rulings in compliance with the Texas Rules of Evidence and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.

Katie loves to leave a client better than she found them by tenaciously identifying workable legal solutions.
