John Stauffer is a civil litigator who advises individual and institutional clients with general real estate services and litigation matters.
John prosecutes and defends broker and seller misrepresentation claims for realty transactions, claims arising from homeowner and community association disputes, banking and financial institution claims tied to real property, foreclosures, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, and pre-litigation property owner and purchaser disputes.
He represents a diverse group of real estate clients ranging from private buyers and sellers, individual brokers, commercial owners, and national brokerages in disputes that arise out of the purchase and sale of real property including nondisclosure, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duties, and enforcement of purchase agreements.
Before joining Clark Hill, John gained a diverse background of experience in insurance litigation focused primarily on commercial liability defense of third-party claims. This includes negligence, automotive liability, premises liability, products liability, and liquor liability (dram shop actions). He also has experience defending transportation industry claims, construction defect, corporate officer liability, professional negligence, and general commercial litigation.
With experience in coverage and bad faith litigation, John has defended first-party insurance claims related to Personal Injury Protection and Med-Pay, UM/UIM, and consumer protection claims on behalf of insurers.
