Eric D. Berlin is an Associate in the Litigation Business Unit of Clark Hill’s Detroit office.  Eric focuses his litigation practice on commercial litigation, business torts, contract disputes, and real estate matters.  Eric has additional experience in transportation/trucking cases, professional liability litigation, corporate transactional work, business formation and legal issues, employment litigation and wage matters, and financial crisis management counseling to businesses and individuals.  Eric has represented clients through all stages of litigation in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and at various administrative hearings throughout the State of Michigan.

Eric graduated cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, where he served as an active member of the Michigan State International Law Review and a competitor on the Moot Court & Trial Advocacy Board.  On the International Law Review, Eric served as a Senior Associate and published The Israeli Supreme Court’s Targeted Killings Judgment: A Reaffirmation of the Rule of Law During War, 21 Mich. St. Int’l. L. Rev. 517 (2013).  While on the Moot Court/Trial Advocacy team, Eric’s participation included three national competitions (where he received top individual scores in his final competition), as well as serving as the team’s Recruitment Chair.  While in law school, Eric was also a participant in the Trial Practice Institute (a selective two-year curriculum covering every stage of litigation, including pre-trial preparation, jury selection, trial and methods of alternative dispute resolution) and President of the Jewish Legal Society.

Eric is active in the legal community as a member of the Jewish Bar Association of Michigan, as well as the Litigation, Business Law, and Young Lawyers sections of the State Bar of Michigan.  Eric is also engaged with the community through his involvement with NextGen Detroit (a branch of the Jewish Federation of Metro Detroit designed to engage young adults and professionals throughout Detroit and the metropolitan areas) and Therapy Dogs International (where he and his dog Rocky are a certified therapy team capable of visiting schools, nursing homes, and libraries).
