Edgar Barraza focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation at the trial and appellate level. He represents businesses and individuals in financial services and investment, securities fraud, product liability, contractual disputes, intellectual property, and cannabis-related matters.

Edgar is a pragmatic problem solver and case manager. Edgar’s broad experience has empowered him to expand his practice and be equally proficient at litigating anything from bet-the-company cases to individual plaintiff matters. Edgar has litigated on behalf of large corporations, public and governmental entities, large-scale developers, and other entities involved in high stakes, high-profile litigation. Edgar served for one and one-half years as a law clerk in Colorado’s Second Judicial District, Denver District Court. Prior to joining Clark Hill, Edgar practiced law at a national law firm in the Denver area.

  • Succeeded in the defense of multibillion-dollar claims against the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy estate, including successful opposition to motions to transfer of mortgage put-back claims filed in New York, securing dismissals of collateral actions in the states of Colorado, Texas, and Utah, as well as victory at trial in 2018.
  • Led successful opposition on behalf of financial institution to class certification of putative class members involving an alleged kickback scheme to institution’s subsidiaries.
  • Led all aspects of discovery and preparation of crossclaims in class action involving alleged violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, fraudulent inducement, breach of contract, and indemnification claims.
  • Succeeded in obtaining three separate successful dismissals of breach of contract and employment retaliation claims by the same litigants.
  • Succeeded in securing favorable settlement of benefit disputes for public pension system in Denver District Court.
  • Represented global insurance company’s subsidiary before FINRA on claims against former financial brokers for breach of restrictive covenants, trade secrets violations, and electronic fraud.
  • Successful representation, including alternative dispute resolution, of an international company CEO in an internal investigation.
  • Succeeded in representation of low-bono representation of private individual on claims for breach of contract and warranty against local car dealership that resulted in a favorable settlement.
