Andrew "Drew" Barrios
Andrew (“Drew”) Barrios is an experienced litigator who represents clients in both state and federal court throughout the Great State of Texas and across the country. Previously an attorney at a medium-sized corporate law firm in Chicago, Illinois and the general counsel to a Houston-based construction company, Drew knows what a client is looking for in a trusted litigator. Drew maintains a extensive litigation and counseling practice covering a range of substantive areas, including, but not limited to, contract and business tort disputes, financial services litigation, class action defense, construction litigation, cybersecurity and data privacy, restrictive covenants and trade secrets, media and entertainment, and personal injury defense.
FINANCIAL SERVICES LITIGATION
Drew’s financial services litigation includes representation of multi-national banking institutions, student loan lenders and services, mortgage lenders, e-commerce companies, and even debt collectors. In this capacity, he has vigorously managed a contentious set of cases alleging violations of various consumer protection statutes, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and state equivalents, both on an individual and class basis. When Drew is involved in a litigation, he handles it from start to finish, ensuring all stages of litigation, including initial claim analysis and response, discovery management, motion practice, and settlement negotiation run smoothly for a client.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, CYBERSECURITY, AND DATA PRIVACY
Drew is also a member of Clark Hill’s Cybersecurity, Data Protection & Privacy team. Recognizing that cybersecurity and data privacy are at the forefront of critical issues for clients of any size, Drew regularly counsels clients on compliance with data breach laws and formulating data breach response plans. Drew also has experience protecting and advising clients that have been a victim of a data breach, guiding them through this trying time in a manner that minimizes client exposure and maximizes client relief. On the more corporate end, Drew has advised start-ups in the blockchain and cryptocurrency technology sector. This practice centers on assisting with entity formation, identifying and addressing regulatory issues, and drafting and reviewing contracts between various entities in the digital currency space.
Drew has significant experience representing clients in a variety of commercial matters. In the construction context, has represented general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers in disputes arising out of both private and public construction projects. Drew also regularly represents companies in product liability, trucking accident, and admiralty and maritime litigation.
