Pittsburgh, PA

– The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected Clark Hill Attorney Lourdes Sanchez Ridge as the recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award. The Steelers will honor Sanchez Ridge on September 22 at their Hispanic Heritage game against the Chicago Bears.

The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) have partnered for the third annual NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards during the 2013 celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The awards recognize the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market.

Lourdes Sanchez Ridge is Senior Counsel with Clark Hill. She is the Co-Founder of the Hispanic Bar Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association, where she initiated a project in which thousands of court documents were translated into Spanish. She is also one of the Founders of the “Know Your Rights” program which teaches new immigrants how to live in the United States. Additionally, Sanchez Ridge served as the President and Chair of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce where, among other things, she formed the Scholarship Fund for Hispanic students seeking higher education. Prior to joining Clark Hill, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Washington, D.C. and an Assistant State Attorney in Miami, Florida. In March 2010, Sanchez Ridge was selected by Celebrate & Share to receive the 5th Annual Women of Achievement Award for Excellence in Law and selected by the Hispanic Bar Committee of Allegheny County Bar Association in 2012 to receive the “El Sol Award”, awarded to an outstanding Hispanic attorney.

Each award recipient will select an organization of their choice that serves the local Hispanic community to receive a $2,000 donation.

Sanchez Ridge has chosen the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation to receive this donation. The Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is the principal regional advocate for the Hispanic business community’s civic and economic interests and provides regional business opportunities for economic development.
