Panel Discussion on Public Art to Take Place During the State Bar of Michigan's 2012 Annual Meeting at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Mich., Sept. 21

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – The State Bar of Michigan (SBM) will be hosting its 2012 Annual Meeting and Solo & Small Firm Institute at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Mich. From Sept. 19-21. The annual meeting takes place alongside ArtPrize, one of Grand Rapids’ most highly anticipated events. SBM’s Arts, Communications, Entertainment and Sports Section will host a panel on Friday, Sept. 21, at 2:30 p.m.

Joseph L. Voss, a senior counsel and practice leader of Clark Hill PLC’s Entertainment Industry Team, will be moderating the panel, which is titled, “Public Art in the Creative Economy: Challenges and Opportunities.” The panel will evaluate the role of public art in the creative economy and feature a number of perspectives, such as museums, academia and business. Voss, based in the firm’s Grand Rapids office, will be joined by Stephanie Neal, of the Grand Rapids Art Museum; Tom Williams, of McGarry Bair; and Paul Wittenbraker, of Grand Valley State University. Todd Herring, ArtPrize marketing director, also will offer a short primer on ArtPrize and its role in the community and in the art world in general.
