Former EPA Deputy General Counsel Kenneth von Schaumburg Joins Clark Hill PLC, Washington DC
United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Deputy General Counsel,
Kenneth von Schaumburg, has joined the
office of Clark Hill PLC as a Member in the firm’s Government & Public Affairs group.
Ken principally focuses his practice in the areas of environmental and energy law, regulatory counseling and government policy advocacy. He is experienced in representing government and private clients before state and
federal agencies. Ken brings with him extensive professional contacts throughout
Prior to joining Clark Hill, Ken headed the
office of a prominent
based law firm where he focused on environment and natural resource law and policy advocacy for the mining, oil & gas and agricultural industries.
Ken served as the Deputy General Counsel (2004-2006) and special counsel (2002-2004) to the EPA during the administration of George W. Bush. Within these capacities, he
provided legal and policy advice on a variety of issues to the Administrator and senior officials in the formulation of agency policies.
While at EPA, Ken managed a diverse portfolio of Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water
Act (CWA), Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and Comprehensive Environmental
Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) issues.
He also handled
litigation before the United States Supreme Court and the federal appellate courts.

Prior to joining EPA, Ken was a partner in a New Jersey-based law firm with substantial environmental, real estate, corporate and government practices. He was also affiliated with a
full-service government affairs and lobbying company, where he represented clients on environmental,
transportation and health issues.
Ken is skilled at advising on election law compliance, having been legal counsel to numerous
federal and state campaigns, including serving as
counsel for two Presidential campaigns. He was also a political operative during every election over the past 16 years.
He developed grassroots operations, field activities and political programs for candidates for pr
esident, congress and state offices.
