Clark Hill West Michigan Attorney Kurt M. Graham Elected as 2013 Chair of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, Labor and Employment Section

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.

– Kurt M. Graham, a senior attorney in Clark Hill’s Grand Rapids office, was elected by fellow section members to be the 2013 chair of the Grand Rapids Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section. He previously served as the secretary of the Labor and Employment Section in 2012 and has been an active member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association for a number of years.

Graham is a member of Clark Hill’s Labor and Employment Practice Group and advises employers in avoiding liability under various state and federal employment laws. He has significant experience counseling and defending public and private sector employers in labor relations matters, such as the administration of collective bargaining agreements, grievance arbitrations and unfair labor practice charges. In addition to Graham’s experience representing employers before numerous administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, he has extensive experience handling MIOSHA/OSHA citation appeals and counseling employers with respect to MIOSHA/OSHA inspections.

Graham frequently lectures on union avoidance and campaigns, harassment, social media in the workplace, and workplace violence and bullying, among other topics. He also has appeared in the

discussing developments under the National Labor Relations Act and workplace bullying.

The Labor and Employment Section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association conducts educational programs on Labor/Employment law issues, especially concerning new legislation and regulations. In addition, it sponsors a number of meetings and seminars, and holds quarterly internal meetings. The Grand Rapids Bar Association was incorporated in 1902 and offers its members a variety of benefits, including educational programs, networking opportunities and client development tips.
