Clark Hill Signs New Lease at Two Commerce Square Reflecting Substantial Growth of Philadelphia Office
A Long-Term Lease with Brandywine Realty Trust was Executed for Approximately 34,000 Square Feet.
September 24, 2018, PHILADELPHIA, PA – Clark Hill announced today that the firm has signed a new long-term lease with Brandywine Realty Trust at Two Commerce Square for approximately 34,000 square feet of space on the 26th and 27th floors. Located across the courtyard from their current location at One Commerce Square, where the firm leases approximately 21,000 square feet, Clark Hill’s new offices will be re-designed to meet the company’s specifications and the firm expects to be in its new offices by Summer, 2019.
“Following an extensive search, we are thrilled to remain within the footprint of our original home in Philadelphia, which we had quickly outgrown,” said Lauri Kavulich, Member-in-Charge of Clark Hill’s Philadelphia office who led the search. “We are creating a space that’s energizing and unique, and will provide a positive and productive workplace environment for our lawyers, staff and clients. Clark Hill thrives on collegiality and partnership across our international offices and practices, and the Philadelphia office design captures our firm culture and values.”
Rob Davis, Member in Clark Hill’s Real Estate Practice Group and Director of Real Estate Growth & Expansion for the Mid-Atlantic region, handled the lease negotiations on behalf of the firm and noted, “We’re very excited about creating a space that will not only reflect the Clark Hill spirit and brand, but will accommodate our anticipated growth over the coming years. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Brandywine Realty Trust at Two Commerce Square as we build out and occupy our new home.”
The firm’s expanded space will allow up to 50 offices on the 27th floor as well as a suite of much larger conference rooms, a wellness room, a café and additional workspaces on the 26th floor. The space will be designed to be much more efficient with smaller and single sized attorney offices in line with current law firm workplace trends.
“We are pleased to expand our longstanding relationship with Clark Hill, a company that continues to invest in Philadelphia, as they move into their new office space at Two Commerce Square” said Jeff DeVuono, Executive Vice President & Senior Managing Director-Pennsylvania, Brandywine Realty Trust. “Clark Hill sought a space they could fit-out to meet their own unique needs and specifications, and we welcomed the opportunity to work with their team to provide an ideal work environment designed to accommodate their growth.”
An underlying theme in designing the new space will be fostering collaboration among individuals and teams of lawyers, and will offer spaces for employees to work outside their offices. There will be a number of spaces throughout for employees to gather or collaborate, with natural light in all of the work areas as a key priority.
Craig Braham, CEO of Advocate Commercial Real Estate Advisors, and Tony Rossi, a Senior Vice President in CBRE’s Downtown Philadelphia office acted as the brokers on behalf of Clark Hill.
Founded in 1890, Clark Hill has been significantly expanding since 2013, beginning with the addition of 100 lawyers from Thorp Reed & Armstrong. In 2017, the firm merged with Los Angeles-based Morris Polich & Purdy LLP and added nearly 100 more lawyers, and in 2018 the firm combined with Texas-based Strasburger & Price, adding 200 additional lawyers in Texas, New York, Washington, D.C. and Mexico City.
