Clark Hill PLC Labor and Employment, and Health Care Attorneys to Present at The Michigan Council of the Society of Human Resource Managers' 2012 Conference, Oct. 10-12

– A number of Clark Hill’s labor and employment attorneys, and the chair of its health care group will present at The Michigan Council of Society of Human Resource Managers’ (MISHRM) 2012 conference, Oct. 10-12, in Novi, Mich. Topics at the conference include equal employment opportunity, wage and hour claims, LGBT, healthcare reform, medical value travel and leaves of absence.

On Wednesday, Oct. 10, Daniel J. Bretz, Jennifer M. Buckley and Kymberly N. Kinchen will present the session, “Equal Employment Opportunity Issues: From Effective Hiring Practices and Policies Through Testimony at Trial or Deposition,” which will highlight EEO policies and practices, as well as review issues related to background checks and effective handling of EEOC charges. Thomas MJ Hathaway and Tracy A. Leahy’s session, “Everything Electronic,” will highlight key electronic management issues, such as policies, misconduct and document retention. Paul W. Coughenour, James R. Stadler, Kurt M. Graham and Anne-Marie V. Welch will present the session, “Wage and Hour Claims: The Warnings of Increased Exposure are Real and What to do About it,” that will provide an update regarding increased government audits and review the common compliance issues, including a mock wage-and-hour audit. Lastly, William A. Moore, Connie M. Cessante, David M. Cessante and Kristi R. Gauthier will present the session, “Wrapping Your Arms Around Leave and Absenteeism Issues to Reduce Associated Costs,” a review of the laws requiring time off and modified schedules, and a look at the policies and practices that human resources can implement to improve attendance.

Gregory W. Moore, practice group leader of the firm’s Health Care Practice, and Naren Balasubramaniam, president and CEO of GCI Global Healthcare Solutions, will present, “Surgically Cutting Healthcare Benefits Costs: Great Health Care is Not Always Local,” Friday, Oct. 12. Moore and Balasubramaniam will explore cutting edge practices to reduce employer health care costs by leveraging regional, national and even international health care providers.
