Clark Hill PLC attorneys Jim Stadler, Nicole Paterson and Kurt Graham will be presenting Employment Law Training for Community Mental Health Supervisors. The all-day program is sponsored by Kalamazoo Community Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services (KCMHSAS) and will cover various employment law topics including: Legal Update on Employment Laws; Supervisor Responsibility to ADA, FMLA Worker’s Compensation, and FLSA; Harassment and Bullying in the Workplace; How to Conduct Investigations and Document Performance Issues; and Business Ethics. Its mission is to promote and provide mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse resources that empower people to succeed. KCMHSAS serves adults with mental illnesses, individuals with developmental disabilities and substance use disorders, and youth with serious emotional disturbances.

Stadler is a Member in Clark Hill’s Labor & Employment practice group in the firm’s Grand Rapids, Michigan office. He represents private and public sector management interests in labor and employment relations matters including: collective bargaining negotiations, grievance arbitrations, interest arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges, strikes, lockouts, civil rights charges, Family and Medical Leave Act compliance and disputes, wage and hour compliance and investigations, WARN compliance, employment terminations, workforce reductions, employment policies, practices and procedures, and other labor and employment-related matters involving federal and state labor and employment laws.

Graham is a Senior Attorney in Clark Hill’s Labor and Employment Practice Group and advises employers in avoiding liability under various state and federal employment laws. He has significant experience counseling and defending public and private sector employers in labor relations matters, such as the administration of collective bargaining agreements, grievance arbitrations and unfair labor practice charges. In addition to Graham’s experience representing employers before numerous administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.

Paterson is an Associate Clark Hill’s Labor and Employment practice group out of Grand Rapids. Her areas of focus include defending employers before the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, and Michigan Employment Relations Commission, as well as advising employers on employment matters such as disciplinary matters, FMLA, ADA, the administration of collective bargaining agreements, and handbook and policy reviews.
