Detroit, MI – Clark Hill PLC attorney Barbara A. Ruga will be presenting at the Michigan Negotiators Association (MNA) Mini Conference, taking place on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Waterford Township, MI, and on Monday, January 26, 2015 in Grand Rapids, MI.
Ruga will present “The Widget Effect and Other Reforms at Five: Where are we now?” Her presentation will cover a review of statistics relative to educator evaluation outcomes within Michigan, the latest in this area from a legal standpoint, the inter-rater reliability issue and where districts have work to do, board policy and administrative guidelines, and other recommendations that affect school labor relations.
MNA is a non-profit association for professional negotiators and contract administrators. Membership in MNA helps individuals network and share information, obtain education, training and support, and develop management skills in negotiations and contract administration.
Ruga is a member in Clark Hill’s Education and Municipal Practice Group as well as the Labor & Employment Law Practice Group. For more than 37 years, she has been advising and counseling public school districts and businesses on a wide variety of labor law and employment issues. Ruga has extensive experience negotiating teacher contracts in a context of scarce resources. She has also handled numerous unfair labor practice charges, fact-findings and related employment litigation. She advocates for prevention through education, and to that end specializes in employee training programs.
