Clark Hill Bankruptcy Attorney Robert Gordon to Present to the Wayne County Association of School Boards Regarding Chapter 9 Bankruptcy Issues

BIRMINGHAM, MI

– Clark Hill Corporate Restructuring & Bankruptcy Group Leader Robert Gordon will present to the Wayne County Association of School Boards regarding Chapter 9 Bankruptcy issues on Thursday, March 18 in Wayne, Michigan.


Gordon will cover the process for appointment of an Emergency Financial Manager for a distressed school district under Michigan’s Local Government Fiscal Responsibility Act and the powers and responsibilities of an EFM.


He will also discuss the process for adjusting debts of a school district under Chapter 9 of the Bankruptcy Code (which governs governmental reorganizations) and the powers granted under Chapter 9 to a reorganizing governmental entity.

Gordon focuses his practice in the areas of corporate reorganization, bankruptcy and insolvency-related matters, debtor and creditor rights, workouts, and related commercial litigation.


He has broad experience representing various parties in interest in bankruptcy and other judicial proceedings and in out-of-court workouts and restructurings, spanning a variety of industries and business segments.

Applying his private-sector restructuring expertise to the public-finance sector, Gordon has frequently spoken to audiences regarding the Emergency Financial Manager process and Chapter 9 bankruptcy issues.

Gordon earned his B.A. from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law.
