Clark Hill Attorneys W. Kent Carter and Gary E. Green presented at the ELFA Legal Forum. The premier event for attorneys serving the equipment leasing and finance industry took place on April 29 – May 1 at the Austin Hilton in Austin, Texas.

Carter’s session was titled, “Motor Vehicles” and discussed accessions and attachments to commercial vehicles under Article 9 of the Uniform commercial Code, lease line default issues and recent statutory and case law developments in motor vehicle finance and leasing.

Green served as moderator to a panel titled, “Straight Talk: What In-House counsel Expects From its’ Outside Counsel.” He led the discussion on how they choose outside counsel, what they expect once a new matter is opened and why they would use a particular attorney on future matters.

Program highlights included:

  • Roundtable discussions on the following key issues: general equipment finance; air/rail/marine; motor vehicles; health care and technology finance; clean technology finance

  • Concurrent sessions on such topics as: vendor program agreements; bankruptcy; lease negotiations and documentation; lease economics; suretyships and guarantees; intellectual property; third party claims; syndications; litigation; and state legal and tax issues.

    Carter is a member of Clark Hill PLC’s Litigation and Bankruptcy and Restructuring groups in Chicago. Kent’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, with a concentration on the Uniform Commercial Code, including, secured transactions, equipment leases, commercial sales and negotiable instruments.

    Green practices in the Banking, Litigation and Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy Departments. He has more than 23 years of experience representing financial institutions in foreclosures, receiverships, lender liability, bankruptcy and restructuring.

    Green and Carter co-chair the Equipment Finance group at Clark Hill.
