Clark Hill Attorneys Paul Magy and David Blau Presented at the ICSC 2013 Michigan Shopping Center Operations Program “Sharing the Secrets of Growing NOI: Income and Expenses” – March 7th

Clark Hill Attorney Paul Magy spoke and moderated a panel discussion for the International Council of Shopping Centers at its Annual Michigan Operations Program with the theme, “Sharing the Secrets of Growing NOI: Income and Expenses.” Magy’s panel specifically discussed, “Income Less Expense Equals NOI: It’s Not Just How Much You Make, It’s How Much You Get to Keep: Is There Any More Blood in the Turnip. ” On the panel was John Hamburger, President, Broder & Sachse, Warren Strietzel, COO of Schostak Brothers & Company, and Michael Sullivan, SVP Asset Management, Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust. Paul Magy, a Past State Director of ICSC is on the Program Planning Committee and helped coordinate this program held in conjunction with the Institute of Real Estate Management’s Annual Trade Show. David Blau lead a discussion at the roundtable portion of the program titled, “Ask the Lawyer Off the Clock” – Bring Your Legal Questions Relating to Shopping Center Management.”

Magy is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. He possesses extensive commercial real estate experience, which includes acquisition, development, finance, zoning, leasing and sale of commercial real estate, in addition to litigation experience in receiverships, distressed assets and retailer bankruptcy. Magy is an active member of a number of community organizations, including President of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Metropolitan Detroit and member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He was awarded ICSC’s highest honor, the Trustees Distinguished Service Award, and is currently chair of Michigan’s ICSC Continuing Education Program for Real Estate Professionals. Magy received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest possible rating in 2012, AV Preeminent®.

Blau is an associate in the firm’s Birmingham office where he practices in the Real Estate Services Practice Group. He works primarily in the areas of real estate transactions, real estate litigation, landlord-tenant, bankruptcy/creditor’s rights, general business and healthcare matters. David has significant litigation experience in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts.
