DETROIT, MI – Clark Hill attorneys Michael P. Nowlan, Thomas K. Ragland, and Patrick Taurel will present at the annual American Immigration Lawyers Association Conference from June 22–25, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nowlan will lead the discussion titled “Mind the H-1B Gap: How to Hold on Until Next October.” Ragland will speak on a panel titled “Strategies for Dealing with Delays, Backlogs, and the Never-Ending Case.” Taurel will lead the discussion titled “Humanitarian Options Under Executive Action.”

Nowlan is the Co-Leader of Clark Hill's Immigration Practice Group. His immigration practice includes representation of Fortune 100 and 500 companies, scientists and engineers, religious institutions, business executives and entrepreneurs, computer and business personnel, and other professionals and their families as they plan for U.S. entry. His expertise also includes in depth knowledge of all business and family immigration, nonimmigrant visas, as well as the permanent residence and naturalization processes. He continues to be an advocate for immigrant rights before immigration officials on a regional and national level.

Ragland is a Member in Clark Hill’s Washington, D.C. office.  His practice focuses on federal court litigation, workplace compliance, removal defense, immigration consequences of criminal activity, complex consular issues, and defense against terrorism- and security-related bars to admission. He received the 2013 Edith Lowenstein Memorial Award for Excellence in Advancing the Practice of Immigration Law from the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). He is the author of the chapter on Immigration in the treatise Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts (4th ed.) (forthcoming) and is a frequent writer and speaker on immigration issues.

Taurel is an Associate in Clark Hill’s Washington, D.C. office. He has been practicing immigration law for over five years, having worked in both the private and non-profit sectors. His practice focuses on federal court litigation and removal defense, as well as affirmative benefits before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and U.S. Consulates abroad.
