GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Clark Hill attorneys Kara T. Rozin and Joseph B. Urban will present at the Michigan Negotiators Association Labor Relations Academy on February 8, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lansing, MI. Rozin and Urban's discussion, An Overview of Negotiations, will discuss the purpose of collective bargaining, what to expect with collective bargaining, management’s role, and union’s perspective.
Urban routinely represents school employers in the areas of collective bargaining, grievances and arbitration, unfair labor practices, wrongful discharge and the day-to-day matters arising in personnel administration. With respect to education law, Urban regularly counsels school districts and public school academies in the operational issues involved in administering educational organizations, including compliance with the Revised School Code, the Open Meetings Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and other laws governing public bodies.
Rozin, a Senior Attorney in the firm's Education Practice Group, dedicates her legal practice to enriching the quality of education for students by assisting educators in state and federal legal matters. She represents Michigan public school districts and private employers in an array of labor and employment law and litigation matters. For the last eight years, Rozin has defended school districts and employers in claims alleging employment discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, violation of constitutional or civil rights, sexual harassment, intentional torts and other related matters. Rozin also serves to protect the interests of school districts and private employers during quasi-judicial proceedings such as investigations by the Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.
