Birmingham, MI – Clark Hill attorneys John L. Gierak and Joseph B. Urban of Clark Hill’s Education Law Practice Group will be presenting to the 2016 Labor Relations Conference sponsored by the Michigan Association of School Boards, Michigan Association of School Administrators and Michigan School Business Officials on the topic of “Negotiations 2016: Strategies for the Upcoming Bargaining Season.” The session, scheduled for Friday, February 26, 2016 at 9 a.m. at the Lansing Radisson, is geared toward board members and school administrators. Gierak and Urban will cover the impact of the “Early Warning” fiscal emergency legislation and other developments bargaining. Participants will be presented with an overview of the negotiations landscape and “take-away tips” for negotiations in the continuing environment of fiscal austerity.
Gierak chairs Clark Hill’s Education and Municipal Practice Group, and focuses his practice in the areas of labor and employment law, education law, and litigation. John represents public and private employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including contract negotiations, as well as acting as general counsel to public school districts.
Urban is a member in Clark Hill’s Birmingham office, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal finance, education law, and real estate law. He routinely represents school employers in the areas of collective bargaining, grievances and arbitration, unfair labor practices, wrongful discharge and the day-to-day matters arising in personnel administration.
