Clark Hill Attorneys Aurora Abella-Austriaco and John L. Hines, Jr. to Present at the US-Korea Law Day – July 27

Clark Hill Attorneys Aurora Abella-Austriaco and John L. Hines, Jr. will be featured presenters and panelists at the US-Korea Law Day on July 27, 2013 at KIA Motors in Irvine, California.

Both Hines and Austriaco have also authored articles for the US-Korea Foundation Law Journal. Austriaco’s article is titled, “Globalization of the Practice of Law” and Hines co-authored “Speech, Defamation & Social Media: Comparing the Law of Korea and the United States,” with Korean Attorney Sang-Beom Seo.

The US-Korea Law Foundation (“the Foundation”) offers global education and solutions for U.S. and Korea lawyers in partnership with the academic, legal and business communities, as well as with government agencies in both countries. One of the major goals of the Foundation is to institutionalize the comparative study of the law and legal systems of these two countries. Austriaco concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial and real estate litigation, construction litigation, mechanic’s liens, mortgage foreclosure, mortgage fraud, title insurance claims and other special chancery remedy cases. Austriaco recently completed her tenure as President of the Chicago Bar Association, one of the oldest and largest metropolitan bar associations in the country with over 22,000 member lawyers, and continues to serve on its Board of Managers and as its Interbar Relations representative. She serves on the board of the Chicago Bar Foundation and has served on the board of the Center for Conflict Resolution (CCR) for five years and as its vice president for two years. She was elected as the first female and minority president of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers’ Association (IRELA), an organization of approximately 1,500 real estate lawyers throughout Illinois. Austriaco also served as board member of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI).

Hines is a partner at Clark Hill PLC, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of intellectual property and licensing, Internet law and e-commerce, software applications (including open source licensing), cloud computing and information management. John regularly counsels clients on privacy and data security compliance, document retention policies and practices, reputation management and social media. He has taught Internet law and Intellectual Property at Northwestern University School of Law and speaks and writes regularly on legal issues related to technology and the online environment.
